Distance Is Not Your Destiny
The Grace of God for Emotionally Guarded People
Trinity Sunday Message | 2 Corinthians 13:11–14
There are moments in life when people slowly begin pulling away emotionally.
Not always physically.
Not always visibly.
Sometimes the distance happens quietly.
You keep showing up.
You keep functioning.
You keep smiling.
You keep helping everyone else.
But internally, something has changed.
The heart becomes guarded.
And over time, many people begin believing a dangerous lie:
“Distance is safer than connection.”
For some, that belief formed through disappointment.
For others, through betrayal, rejection, exhaustion, grief, conflict, or emotional pain that never fully healed.
So the walls slowly rise.
Not because people stop caring.
But because somewhere along the way, closeness stopped feeling safe.
This Trinity Sunday at World Victory Church & Life Center, Reverend Jeff Jones will preach a powerful message from 2 Corinthians 13:11–14 titled:
“Distance Is Not Your Destiny: The Grace of God for Emotionally Guarded People.”
Paul writes these closing words to a fractured church struggling with division, emotional distance, and relational strain.
And instead of ending with condemnation, Paul points them toward something deeper:
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ
The love of God the Father
The fellowship of the Holy Spirit
The entire heart of God moving toward broken and guarded people.
